Merrimac Mule Days

A high school student named Allie Evans from Kentucky recently shot, edited and shared this video with us which I must say is a damn good job of showing what the mule community is all about. This was shot in a small community in Merrimac, KY which goes to show mule people are alike even on the other coast of the USA. Just getting together, hangin' out and having a good ol' time. A small quote from Allie about her video "I have known Milford Lowe all of my life and he has such a passion for his mules I thought other mule enthusiasts would enjoy the video."

Thanks again Allie!

Go Dyna! First Mule To Compete In National U.S. Dressage Finals Hails From Northern California

If you thought dressage was just a fancy competition for fancy horses, you are wrong. It’s a fancy competition for fancy mules, too.
Dressage trainer Laura Hermanson of Madera, has been showing mules for the last three years at local horse shows. The United States Equestrian Federation has allowed mules to compete since 2004 but no mule has ever made it to the national United States Dressage Finals… until now.

A Mule Named Dyna Poised to Make Dressage History

In preparation for this week’s U.S. Dressage Finals in Lexington, Kentucky, Laura Hermanson did what most dressage competitors do: she worked on her own and in sessions with her trainer, Renee Johnson, on maintaining suppleness, relaxation and engagement. But she also did a little cross training—competing in reining, cutting and cow working while doing a little jumping on the side. You could say Hermanson’s mount is no ordinary horse, and you’d be right. Heart B Dyna is a 16-hand, 12-year-old mule. Hermanson and Dyna were originally long listed for the Training Level Championship when the Madera, California-based dressage trainer got an invitation to the finals. Though mules have been allowed in USEF dressage shows since 2004, this will be the first time one will compete at the championships.
